چکیده

Oc..+. 95" TI1is paper describes a system which assists in the strategic placement of RF base stations within buildings. Known as the Site Modeling Tool (SMT), this system allows the user to display graphical floor plans and to select base station transceiver parameters. including location and orientation. interactively. The system then computes ancl highlights estimated coverage regions for each transceiver. enabling the user to assess the total coverage within the building. For single-Door operation, the user can choose between distance-dependent and partition-dependent path-loss models. Similar path-loss models are also available for the case of multiple floors. This paper describes the method used by the system to estimate coverage for both directional and omnidirectional antennas. The Site Modeling Tool is intenclecl to be simple to use by inclivicluals who are not experts at wireless communication system design. and is expected to be very useful in the specification of indoor wireless systems.

Interactive Computation of Coverage Regions for Wireless Communication in Multifloored Indoor Enviro - Selected Areas in Communications, IEEE Journal on

AbstructFor indoor wireless communication systems, radio frequency (RF) transceivers need to be placed strategically to achieve optimum communication coverage at the lowest cost. Unfortunately, the coverage region for a transceiver depends heavily on the type of building and on the placement of walls within the building. Traditionally, therefore, transceiver locations have been selected by huma...

Indoor Non-directed Optical Wireless Communications - Optimization of the Lambertian Order

For an indoor non-directed line of sight optical wireless communication (NLOS-OWC) system we investigate the optimized Lambertian order (OLO) of light-emitting diodes (LEDs). We firstly derive an expression for the OLO from a conventional Lambertian LED model. Then, we analyze the indoor multi-cell NLOS-OWC channel characteristics including the optical power distribution and the multipath time ...

Extension of the Coverage Region of Multiple Access Channels by Using a Relay

From practical and theoretical viewpoints, performance analysis of communication systems by using information-theoretic results is important. In this paper, based on our previous work on Multiple Access Channel (MAC) and Multiple Access Relay Channel (MARC), we analyze the impact of a relay on the fundamental wireless communications concept, i.e., coverage region of MARC, as a basic model for u...

An efficient non-repudiation billing protocol in heterogeneous 3G-WLAN networks

The wireless communication with delivering variety of services to users is growing rapidly in recent years. The third generation of cellular networks (3G), and local wireless networks (WLAN) are the two widely used technologies in wireless networks. 3G networks have the capability of covering a vast area; while, WLAN networks provide higher transmission rates with less coverage. Since the two n...

Performance of the Wavelet Transform-Neural Network Based Receiver for DPIM in Diffuse Indoor Optical Wireless Links in Presence of Artificial Light Interference

Artificial neural network (ANN) has application in communication engineering in diverse areas such as channel equalization, channel modeling, error control code because of its capability of nonlinear processing, adaptability, and parallel processing. On the other hand, wavelet transform (WT) with both the time and the frequency resolution provides the exact representation of signal in both doma...
